John Dave C. Aquino (he/his)

I am a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Gail M. Preston. I am from Nueva Ecija, Philippines and currently working as a faculty researcher at Central Luzon State University. I am a recipient of Philippine Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute Foreign Graduate Scholarship Program.

I am going to work on uncovering the role of RNA-binding proteins and cognate RNA in plant immunity. This project will enable the identification and characterization of proteins bound to RNA, their RNA target and their role in plant immunity. We will extend our analyses to tomato and other model crop species in order to explore new strategies that can provide insights and understandings in the host plant resistance of economically important crops.

I am looking forward to learn several innovative research approaches and different culture in Oxford that will provide opportunity to gain new knowledge for professional growth and increase network for global collaborations.
